I would agree that at our most basic level, humans are social animals, but after thousands of years of civilization we have long passed the point where comparing human nature to animal nature is relevant. For better or worse, we have transcended many aspects of nature, so I like to think that my lonely, empty, solitary existence is actually a triumphant victory over my baser animal nature.

I have a theory that it is possible that people that are happy with themselves alone have been through some traumatic experience rendering their trust skills void. Or, they never recieved love from whomever raised them. Not that it's wrong to be this way. I think it's just causal. At a very basic level humans are meant to run in packs like most animals. Those who don't, will not survive.

I can see where you're coming from. I, too, am content with being single, and I don't aspire to have a 'beautiful' home, with a wife and kids. But I think the final scene tried to emphasise that it's important to just do what you love. As we saw in the film, he was let down when he tried to make a human connection. He tried it, it didn't work for him, so he picked up on what he does best again. I really enjoyed it.

Don't forget about the way Sir Ian is always finding a way to get himself into the tabloids. I hear TMZ.com has an entire server dedicated to hosting the terabytes of upkilt pics of McKellen's member.

Sir Ian McKellen only pretends to be gay in order to get ahead in Hollywood. He also pretends to be Jewish, an asshole, and to have big, fake tits. Sir Ian McKellen knows how to play the system.

As a former thespian, I can say that not only are there too few sobbing children on stage, but also that audiences are desperate for more sobbing children. In fact a documentary about sobbing children (working title: "Waaaah-ah-ung-ah-ung-waaaaaaaaah!") exploring why they are sobbing and what can be done to shut them the hell up would no doubt knock 'em dead at Cannes.

Poonanny!

Are you thinking of King Missile's "Detachable Penis"? And I might have to add poonanny to the Love Hewitt Word Filter. Maybe replace "poonanny" with "Robert Smith"?
